School 52 Band

Mr. Rowlinson Update Corner:

Welcome to School 52 band area where you can find news, information and updates about our band, events coming up and other things!

Mr. Rowlinson

My name is Mr. Rowlinson and I am happy to be here teaching 4th-6th grade band at School 52! Some fun facts about me is I have performed internationally with concert bands and percussion groups including Nazareth University and Stampede (the Buffalo Bills Drumline).

What groups are available to me?

Students at School 52 are able to join Wind Band with Mr. Rowlinson (Flute, Clarinet, Alto/Tenor Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone, Percussion, or other instruments based on want and availability). Other groups available at School 52 are Choir, Orchestra, Hand Drumming, Piano and Ukulele with Mrs. Eberhart.

Students in Mr. Rowlinson's band meet once a week for instrumental lessons on their instruments in small groups of 2-5. Additionally, students from 5th and 6th grade will meet for group rehearsal on Fridays to practice together (4th graders start in the Spring to allow time for new players to learn how to hold and breathe before going on stage).

ROC City Players -

ROC City Players mission is to foster students’ individual talents and abilities in a nurturing environment of equity on the stage. ROC City Players is open to all Rochester City School District students in Grades 4-12.

Citywide Concert Series

Next year, April 2027, Band students from around the district will have an opportunity to perform with other students from a similar skill level as them in a concert. Preparation happens at home and with other band members leading up to the concert day as well as the whole day of the concert.  Students involved in this concert will be bused to the concert venue (this year is Padilla High School) and will practice with other students from all different schools to prepare for a concert that night.
